As you are ushered into the VCS gymnasium by one of our friendly greeters, you will see the stage on the far side of the room. Just inside the doors there will be coffee and snacks, so feel free to grab some on your way in. Say hi to friends, meet some new folks, or check out the Info Table for answers to any questions you may have or updates on what is going on with the Den throughout the week. Bathrooms are in the front lobby, and there is a baby-changing station in the women's room. For children's church, grade school kids are in the cafeteria in the hallway to the left of the gym. There are also classrooms for pre-school and nursery in the South hallway (the rooms are side by side, with the nursery on the left, and the pre-school on the right). Of course, if you have any questions, feel free to ask one of the greeters (you'll know them by the Lion's Den vests), or check at the Info Table, and we would be happy to point you in the right direction.
Our normal order of service starts at 10am with 2-3 worship songs from the worship team, followed by weekly communion and one more song. Next, there will be announcements for new and upcoming events, followed by a prayer and the receiving of an offering. At this point we will take a break to allow people to connect with those around them, meet people they don’t know and build the family atmosphere we value so much at The Lion’s Den. From there, the grade school children are dropped off in their classroom in the cafeteria, and pre-school kids in their classroom. Feel free to drop your little ones off in the nursery at any time during the service. After dropping children off (and maybe getting a little more coffee), you will be called back together with a worship song.
The final section of our worship service is the presentation of the Word of God by Pastor Jon Meek (or occasionally by an associate pastor or visiting speaker). We are a Bible-based church that diligently digs into the scripture each week to find fresh ways to apply God’s word to our lives. After the sermon is completed and the Gospel has been preached, the worship team will send the congregation off with one last song to allow time for response to the message and to prepare the hearts of the congregation to carry throughout the week what they have just learned.
We value family, love each other and enjoy having a good time, but above all, we love Jesus. Here at The Lion’s Den our goal is to “Do Life Together” and it is through this love of our friend and king, Jesus, that we walk out lives of purpose - in relationship with God and each other.
